Congress Report on Regulatory Issues - Singin' in the Rain !

On November 8 and 9, the 21st edition of the Regulatory Issues - Perfumes & Cosmetics congress was held.

With more than 650 participants , this congress once again confirms itself as one of the major events for the profession. New for 2023, English-speaking participants were able to benefit from simultaneous translation on site and remotely, with participants connecting from India!

Over two days, 17 high-level interventions deciphered the regulatory complexities of the sector. Among these interventions, the presence of the supervisory authorities, European Commission and DGCCRF came to present respectively the latest news on the European Regulation and the results of their campaigns.

The congress opened with a weather report, providing an overview of global regulatory developments , commented by Isabelle Orquevaux Hary (L'Oréal) and Bénédicte Roux (Pierre Fabre). In conclusion, the weather seems rather stormy all over the world!

Indeed, the perfume and cosmetics sector is subject to a set of
regulations specific to cosmetic products and ingredients. However, it is now increasingly impacted by cross-cutting regulations , with environmental regulations at the forefront in recent years, the consequences of a growing demand for “eco-designed” products from consumers.

Proof of this is that there were whispers in the aisles of the congress: “ We have never talked so little about cosmetics !”

In addition to the various news related to the environment, the delegates were able to work on subjects such as: endocrine disruptors, allergens in perfumes, ban on microplastics, incorporation of recycled plastics in packaging, dematerialization of product information, point to date on regulations in China and the USA...

Finally, the traditional question/answer session, organized in partnership with FEBEA, provides concrete answers to delegates.

Note the success of the Chartres evening, which brought together nearly 350 participants on the first evening of the congress, on the theme of gaming, allowing participants to enjoy a small lull far from the regulatory tumult.

COSMETIC VALLEY would like to thank all the delegates for their participation and their loyalty, the partners and sponsors as well as the members of the Scientific Committee who make it possible each year to build a quality program.

Congress organized in partnership with Chartres Métropole, FEBEA, the French Society of Cosmetology.
