Biomechanics, the study of movements and forces acting on biological tissues, is used in cosmetics to understand skin-product interactions. Skin indentation is a technique commonly used in biomechanics to measure skin resistance and flexibility. This method makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of cosmetic products on the skin and thus to develop new cosmetic products which improve the mechanical properties of the skin.
Take part in our fourth Beauty Fab Tech webinar, an opportunity for you to learn about skin analysis methods.

France 2030: A call for projects to support the development and industrialization of biosourced products and industrial biotechnologies
This national system, launched as part of the France 2030 plan, aims to support the development of innovative solutions with low environmental impact thanks to biosourced products and industrial biotechnologies in France.
Are you a company or a research organization? Do you have a project that could correspond to this call?
- The expansion of biomass deposits , in compliance with sustainability criteria, with the objective of providing ready-to-use biomass or molecules from primary processing;
- Demonstration of biomass transformation processes , or products from primary transformation;
- Support for industrialization, consisting in supporting the implementation on an industrial scale of production units of biosourced molecules and their transformation into molecules of interest or innovative materials with higher added value.
- This call for projects "Biosourced products and biotechnology" for companies and research organizations is open until January 15, 2024 , with a next succession on May 15, 2023.
- Checking of files every four months on average (from 05/31/2022 at 3:00 p.m.)

Cosmetic Valley has been selected to coordinate a European project, ACTT4Cosmetics, co-funded by the Horizon Europe program.
The consortium is composed of 7 partners from Portugal, Italy, France and Poland and 2 associated partners from Romania and Ukraine.
The project will start on May 1, for a period of 5 years, with a budget of €3.6 million, 50% co-financed.
We would like to hire a consulting firm to support us in the coordination and management of the ACTT4Cosmetics project.
Calendar :
Yesterday, April 11, the Board of Directors of COSMETIC VALLEY endorsed the labeling of 7 new innovation projects which had received a favorable opinion from the Scientific Expertise Committee of the cluster!
These innovation projects concern safety, naturalness, materials innovation:
- evaluation of content/container interactions,
- development of a sea cucumber industry for the production of cosmetic active ingredients in French Polynesia,
- characterization of biosourced polymers,
- development of the Guyanese oud wood sector and its use in perfumery,
- new eco-responsible UV filters, inspired by nature and functionalized from non-food biosourced sugars,
- digital printing on glass,
- new packaging towards minimalist,
These projects concern the Normandy, PACA, Ile de France, French Polynesia, Guyana, Grand Est and Auvergne Rhône Alpes regions. .. and apply for funding from the ANR or France 2030...

Focus on a call for projects launched by the European Commission to finance collaborative innovation in Europe!
Cosmetic Valley has targeted this very relevant call for projects to develop your research and innovation project on the themes of waste recovery, aquatic biomass and bio-based systems.
Name of the call for projects : HORIZON-JU-CBE-2023-IAFlag-04: Valorisation of aquatic biomass waste and residues
Submission : September 20, 2023
Budget : €10M - Grant of 60% of eligible costs for for-profit entities and 100% for non-profit entities
TRL: TRL8 at the end of the project
In accordance with the objectives of the circular economy and the "zero pollution" action plan, the proposals selected will facilitate the large-scale deployment of biobased industrial systems. These systems will contribute to the implementation of the new EU strategy for a sustainable blue economy and respond to the EC Communication "Towards a strong and sustainable European algae sector", by demonstrating improved environmental performance, maximum efficiency in terms of resources and energy, and optimal cascading use of biological raw materials, aiming for "zero waste" and "zero pollution" operations.
Cosmetic applications are directly targeted by this call.

COSMETIC VALLEY brought together and questioned the Industrial Scientific Committee of the Sector, made up of around forty companies of all sizes and representatives of different links in the sector, as well as many other French companies. These different players worked together for several months to redefine the challenges and common themes of innovation. These challenges and themes are described in a White Paper, making it possible to set priorities for collective action to boost innovation in the sector.
The themes defined are as follows:
- Digitization of the sector
- New technologies and industrial transfer
- Product development and evaluation
- Measurement and control of impacts
- Sustainable development
- Organic Sourcing
These themes are dealt with in numerous actions carried out by COSMETIC VALLEY and by players in the sector. It gives priority areas to work on in the years to come.
