Perfumery-cosmetics looks to the future

Launched on June 1 , the online consultation on the issues and perspectives of the sector has met with a broad response

with the profession:

Benefiting from the support of 15 new associated partners,

The States General of perfumery and cosmetics

have already received 400 proposals from leaders, researchers, project managers, startupers...

On July 10, the steering committee of the General States of the perfumery-cosmetics sector met in order to take stock of the post-Covid situation and to prepare the day of October 15, 2020 in Paris, within the walls of the Cloister of the Cordeliers. This moment of exchanges will bring together all the actors of the sector and will make it possible to discover the results of the consultation carried out within the framework of the States General organized by Cosmetic Valley. It will also be an opportunity to recall the economic weight of the perfumery-cosmetics sector: with nearly 250,000 jobs, the sector weighs almost as much as aeronautics and has maintained most of its production in France.

Throughout the perfumery-cosmetics sector, the coronavirus crisis has triggered a powerful movement of solidarity. From the onset of the pandemic, VSEs and SMEs in the sector have indeed demonstrated tremendous responsiveness, agility and capacity for innovation.

In an emergency context, this network has dedicated or converted its production lines to the manufacture of hydro-alcoholic gel: at the local level, each of these companies has thus supplied its hospital, nursing home or retirement home. Made up of 80% VSEs and SMEs, Cosmetic Valley has also mobilized clusters active in their respective fields of excellence, such as Glass Vallée specializing in luxury bottles, Santé Biotech Bretagne centered on biotech applied to cosmetics, Cosmet 'in Lyon around dermocosmetics, or Authentic Provence and its territory brand.

In various ways, the fifteen Associates of the States General of the perfumery-cosmetics sector will have played a major role in the involvement of their members in the online consultation on the challenges and prospects of the sector. During the day of October 15, they will participate in the writing of the main orientations for the future of the sector and will therefore assert themselves as long-term partners, fully associated with its future strategy.

Thanks to the 400 proposals received from players in the sector from various backgrounds – Management, Research, Production, Innovation – who expressed themselves widely. Proposals which will be analyzed during the summer and will make it possible to build the recovery plan for the sector, the presentation of which is scheduled in Paris on October 15, 2020.
