Collective Innovation White Paper for the perfumery/cosmetics sector

COSMETIC VALLEY brought together and questioned the Industrial Scientific Committee of the Sector, made up of around forty companies of all sizes and representatives of different links in the sector, as well as many other French companies. These different players worked together for several months to redefine the challenges and common themes of innovation. These challenges and themes are described in a White Paper, making it possible to set priorities for collective action to boost innovation in the sector.

The themes defined are as follows:

- Digitization of the sector

- New technologies and industrial transfer

- Product development and evaluation

- Measurement and control of impacts

- Sustainable development

- Organic Sourcing

These themes are dealt with in numerous actions carried out by COSMETIC VALLEY and by players in the sector. It gives priority areas to work on in the years to come.

Finance your innovation project on the theme of biosourcing

Among the many calls for projects launched by the European Commission to finance collaborative innovation in Europe, Cosmetic Valley has targeted a very relevant call for projects to develop your research and innovation project on the theme of biosourcing!

Name of the call for projects : HORIZON-CL6-2023-CIRCBIO-02-3-two-stage: non-plant biomass feedstock for industrial applications: technologies and processes to convert non-lignocellulosic biomass and waste into bio-based chemicals, materials and products, improving the cascading valorization of biomass

Filing in two stages : March 28, 2023 (step 1) and September 26, 2023 (step 2)

Budget : 4M€ 100% subsidized by the European Commission

TRL: TRL5

This action targets processes for converting non-lignocellulosic biomass and waste into chemicals, materials and biobased products. Proposals should optimize the recycling of non-wood raw materials with a focus on improved resource efficiency and circularity. They must develop technologies or processes for the upstream treatment and downstream conversion of these materials in order to recover them and expand the portfolio of products resulting from bio-sourced processes. The production of biofuels and bioenergy is outside the scope of this topic. Food ingredients, compounds related to cosmetics and in particular those with properties beneficial to health (nutraceuticals), may fall within the scope, provided that their toxicological and nutritional safety has been assessed and guaranteed at the level of the EU.

Launch of the call for a Beauty FAB event

The Beauty FAB is launching a call for demonstrations (AMI) with intra and inter-sector equipment manufacturers. Thus any process player, even from related industries (pharmaceutical, agri-food, mechanics, materials, painting, etc.) can apply for the Beauty FAB in order to highlight their technology, which can be used from R&D to the release of the product, and diversify its market. Major players in the cosmetics industry will be able to witness your demonstrations or participate in the co-construction of new technologies adapted to their problems.

From May, you will be able to use this demonstration space at the heart of the cosmetics industry. If you are selected by the jury, you will benefit from a preferential rate to carry out your demonstrations.

You have equipment that deals with the following issues, register:
  • Product treatment (grinding, mixing, compacting, shaping, dosing, transfer, etc.)
  • Measurement and quality control devices
  • Equipment cleaning (non-stick material, CIP system, etc.)
  • Energy consumption (electricity, water, decarbonization, etc.)
  • Environmental impact (waste management/reduction, decarbonization, etc.)
  • Digitization of production tools to guarantee safety and profitability (IoT, IA, etc.)
  • Robotization / Automation of production tools

Together we innovate to create opportunities for everyone
