COSMETIC VALLEY SUPPORTS A RESEARCH-BUSINESS COLLABORATION

CHANEL Parfums Beautรฉ, the CNRS, the ร‰cole Nationale Supรฉrieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR) and the University of Rennes inaugurated this Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Rennes a joint laboratory called โ€œ๐ˆ๐‚๐‚๐€๐‘๐„โ€ (Innovative Cosmetics for CARE) supported by the 'ANR.

COSMETIC VALLEY supported the setting up of this project and provided it with the labeling of the French cosmetics/perfumery industry.

The partners aim to innovate in the design of new generation cosmetic products by pooling their skills.

With a turnover of โ‚ฌ71 billion, cosmetics is a flagship sector in France. 60% of French production is exported internationally. To support this appeal for French cosmetic products, it is essential to offer consumers continuous and relevant innovations, while guaranteeing product safety by taking into account scientific advances, the environmental context and current regulations.

In order to remove major technological obstacles, this research/business collaboration will engage in 2 major areas of research:

- The design of innovative processes responding to eco-design challenges in order to synthesize and produce new inorganic pigments, essential ingredients in makeup,

- The development of catalytic processes capable of producing agro-sourced waxes in order to replace synthetic waxes and paraffins of petrochemical origin.

COSMETIC VALLEY, a competitiveness cluster, allows you to discuss the various innovation issues in the perfumery - cosmetics sector and the projects to be implemented.

If you also want to develop an R&D project to meet the challenges of the sector, contact us! Amandine Goubert, agoubert@cosmetic-valley.com

INNOVATION WEBINAR โ€“ RAW MATERIAL SOURCING

Sourcing raw materials is essential because it is the first step in the production process of a cosmetic product.

Indeed, natural raw materials can be multiple, both plant and marine, and must be used in particular for the active ingredients they contain. They must therefore go through rigorous selection.

Cosmetic Valley supports innovation in the cosmetics sector through all stages of manufacturing a cosmetic product. As part of the Cosmรฉtosciences program, Cosmetic Valley is therefore setting up thematic information webinars, ranging from the sourcing of raw materials to the study of the safety of the product for humans and the environment.

Consortium Meeting INNCOCELLS

InnCoCells, the European project for the development of natural assets.

The 17 partners of the InnCoCells project gathered in Nancy at PAT this week to take stock of the progress of this 4-year project aimed at validating the processes for obtaining ingredients from plants and plant cell cultures.

๐ŸŒฑ A project which is based on the concept of Cosmรฉtopรฉe, starting from the ancestral cosmetic uses of plants and promoting their current valorization. This is possible thanks to a better understanding of the mechanisms of action and thus allows the maintenance of biodiversity and the economic development of the holding territories.

COSMETICVALLEY is a partner in this project which is fully integrated into the European themes worked within the framework of the Acct4Cosmetics working groups.

๐Ÿ”” Find the presentation of the project results on COSMETIC 360 , on October 16 & 17 in Paris.

1st Innovation Barometer in the perfumery-cosmetics sector

COSMETIC VALLEY publishes the 1ST RESEARCH AND INNOVATION BAROMETER of the French perfumery & cosmetics sector!

It was unveiled during the cluster's second annual press conference on Monday April 15.

On this occasion, the actions implemented by the center since 2005 were recalled, to promote:
โœ… The development of R&I projects in companies in the sector,
โœ… Public/private collaborations,
โœ… Collective actions to boost innovation.

For the first time, a study makes it possible to measure the progress made!

Research in the perfumery-cosmetics sector has exploded in France in recent years: publication and patent filings increased six-fold between 2005 and 2023. Today, there are almost ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž in connection with our sector!

Six major areas of innovation were studied:
โ™ป Sustainable Development
๐ŸŒฟ Organic Sourcing
โš™ New technologies
๐Ÿ“Š Control of impact
๐Ÿ”Ž Development & Evaluation
๐Ÿค– Digitalization

Beauty FAB Tech #7

On June 7, watch the Les Tech du Beauty Fab webinar on the theme of microfluidics in the cosmetics sector.

#Microfluidics, this fascinating science which studies the behavior of fluids at the microscopic scale, is finding more and more applications in the cosmetics industry; it offers revolutionary potential by allowing the creation of highly personalized and effective products.

By combining their expertise in microfluidics and process chemistry, KLEARIA is at the forefront of innovation in the cosmetics field, offering tailor-made and highly effective solutions to meet the specific needs of each company. Their approach based on the microfluidic process makes it possible to overcome the limitations encountered in traditional batch manufacturing methods. By precisely manipulating very small volumes of fluids through microscopic channels, Klearia can create cosmetic formulas that were previously difficult or impossible to achieve.

On the agenda for this hour of webinar:

  • A first part on โ€œWhat is microfluidics?โ€ and what are the works of KLEARIA,
  • A second part on microfluidics for the benefit of cosmetics
  • Finally, how to use this science to innovate, particularly in the manufacturing of skincare products and perfumes.
