CONGRESS SUMMARY REGULATORY ISSUES - LET'S DANCE IN THE RAIN!
The 21st edition of the Regulatory Issues Congress - Perfumes & Cosmetics.

With more 650 participantsThis congress has once again proven itself to be one of the profession's key events. New for 2023, English-speaking participants benefited from simultaneous translation both on-site and remotely, with some participants even connecting from India!

For two days, 17 interventions High-level experts deciphered the regulatory complexities of the sector. Among these presentations were representatives from the supervisory authorities, the European Commission and the DGCCRF, who came to present, respectively, the latest developments in the European Regulation and the results of their campaigns.

The congress opened with a weather report, providing an overview of global regulatory developmentsCommented on by Isabelle Orquevaux Hary (L'Oréal) and Bénédicte Roux (Pierre Fabre). In conclusion, even with stormy weather forecast around the world, it is important that the industry learns to adapt to the rain!

Indeed, the perfume and cosmetics sector is subject to a set of regulations specific to cosmetic products and ingredients. Nevertheless, it is now increasingly impacted by cross-cutting regulations, with environmental regulations at the forefront for some years now, resulting from a growing consumer demand for "eco-designed" products.

Proof of this was the whisper circulating in the halls of the congress: "We have never talked so little about cosmetics !

In addition to various environmental news items, delegates were able to work on topics such as: endocrine disruptors, allergens in perfumes, the ban on microplastics, the incorporation of recycled plastics in packaging, the dematerialization of product information, and an update on regulations in China and the USA...

Finally, the traditional question and answer session, organised in partnership with FEBEA, provides concrete answers to congress attendees.

Of note was the success of the evening in Chartres, which brought together nearly 350 participants on the first night of the congress, on the theme of games, allowing participants to enjoy a brief respite away from the regulatory turmoil.
