The perfume and cosmetics industry is looking towards the future
Launched on June 1st, the online consultation on the challenges and prospects of the sector has resonated widely with the profession:
Benefiting from the support of 15 new associate partners,
The General Assembly of the Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry
have already received 400 proposals from executives, researchers, project managers, start-ups…
On July 10th, the steering committee for the General Assembly of the Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry met to review the post-Covid situation and prepare for the event on October 15, 2020, in Paris, at the Cloître des Cordeliers. This forum will bring together all stakeholders in the industry and will present the results of the consultation conducted as part of the General Assembly organized by Cosmetic Valley. It will also be an opportunity to highlight the economic importance of the perfumery and cosmetics sector: with nearly 250,000 jobs, the industry is almost as significant as the aerospace sector and has maintained the majority of its production in France.
Throughout the perfume and cosmetics industry, the coronavirus crisis has triggered a powerful movement of solidarity. From the very beginning of the pandemic, the sector's very small and small businesses have demonstrated remarkable responsiveness, agility, and capacity for innovation.
In an emergency situation, this network dedicated or repurposed its production lines to manufacturing hand sanitizer: at the local level, each of these companies supplied its hospital, nursing home, or retirement home. Composed of 80% very small and small businesses, Cosmetic Valley also mobilized clusters active in their respective fields of expertise, such as Glass Vallée, specializing in luxury glass packaging; Santé Biotech Bretagne, focused on biotech applied to cosmetics; Cosmet’in Lyon, centered on dermocosmetics; and Authentic Provence and its regional brand.
In various capacities, the fifteen or so members of the General Assembly of the perfume and cosmetics industry played a major role in engaging their members in the online consultation on the sector's challenges and prospects. During the day of October 15th, they will participate in shaping the industry's future direction and will thus establish themselves as long-term partners, fully involved in its future strategy.
Thanks to the 400 proposals received from stakeholders across the sector, representing diverse backgrounds – Management, Research, Production, Innovation – who expressed their views extensively. These proposals will be analyzed during the summer and will inform the development of the sector's recovery plan, which is scheduled to be presented in Paris on October 15, 2020.
