A shared commitment to structuring and boosting the regional cosmetics industry

Led since 2013 by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Development and Innovation Agency/ADI, with the support of the Region and in partnership with CCI International, the cosmetics sector of Nouvelle Aquitaine joined the Cosmetic Valley dynamic in 2015 and forged a partnership which materialized in the organization of a first congress on circular eco-extraction in Limoges in January 2017.

A year later, the opening of a Cosmetic Valley office in Nouvelle-Aquitaine illustrates the shared commitment of all stakeholders to structure the regional sector, to showcase cosmetic excellence and the region's attractiveness, and to support SMEs and very small businesses in their efforts.
innovation and their export strategy at a time when the international environment is becoming increasingly competitive. The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region will support the economic development of the regional cosmetics sector through co-financing of the office and individual and collective actions of regional SMEs.

A bet on the future of the sector and the region
Given the region's new size, significant work remains to be done to develop close relationships with businesses and foster synergies. The opening of the Cosmetic Valley office in January 2018 at ADI's premises in Bordeaux, in partnership with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and ADI, will consolidate the work already accomplished and allow for further development of the regional business network, extending its reach to a national level.

Nathalie Simonin, director of the office, will work closely with the ADI teams to support SMEs: setting up innovation projects, implementing training programs, providing export support at major trade fairs…

Its objective will also be to develop the region's Territorial Area of Excellence: Lipochemistry and valorization of agricultural resources. The first edition of the brand new LIPIDS & COSMETICS congress will be held on January 25th and 26th in Bordeaux. in partnership with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, its Development and Innovation Agency (ADI-NA) and the Institute of Fats and Oils (ITERG) illustrates this proactive strategy.

COSMETIC VALLEY

Created in 1994 and designated a competitiveness cluster in 2005, Cosmetic Valley is today the world's leading resource center for perfumery and cosmetics. A driving force of the French industry, and the world's leading exporter whose excellence is recognized worldwide, this national hub embodies the values of the "Made in France" brand: innovation, performance, product safety, and respect for the environment.

To promote the expertise of each region while respecting its unique identity, Cosmetic Valley has implemented a national strategy of Territorial Strategic Areas of Excellence. The aim for the cluster is to establish a structured approach based on the strengths and ambitions of each territory, in close consultation with local authorities, research and training organizations, and businesses.. This dynamic allows companies, and particularly SMEs, to access specialized innovation platforms, training programs, and participate in international conferences and trade shows. These are all assets for innovating and expanding internationally, serving the economic, scientific, and commercial interests of the sector, which thus gains in cohesion and visibility. Specialization by region also ensures the complementarity of public investments across the country.
