Call for applications Senior Researcher (PhD)

The University of Orleans, in partnership with the CNRS and Cosmetic Valley, is looking to develop research at the interface with industry in the field of cosmetic formulation.

An industry chair is therefore to be instituted for the period 2013-2016. It will be funded partly by industries in the cosmetics sector and partly by the French national research agency (Agence Nationale de la Recherche - ANR) as part of the call for industrial chair projects. It is intended that the chair should become permanent in the form of a professor’s post at the University of Orleans.


The successful applicant will be in charge of setting up the project to be submitted to the ANR by December 2012. (http://www.agence-nationale-recherche.fr/programmes-de-recherche/appel-detail/chaires-industrielles-2012/)

If the project is selected by the ANR, the successful applicant will have the following tasks:
- Carrying out applied research work as part of collaborative projects with private and public stakeholders in the cosmetics sector, which will involve constituting a research team (doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers)
- Reinforcing links between the laboratories on the research campus
- Interacting closely with the chair’s partner companies
- Setting up a strategy to make use of the work carried out
- Establishing national and international research partnerships in the field

The post, in Orleans (France) is to be filled in September 2013, for a period of four years.


- Senior researcher (PhD) in colloid physical chemistry, processes, chemistry, biology
- Bilingual French/English
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in research at the interface with industry
- Recognised leader in the field, capable of working in a multidisciplinary team

To be admissible, your application must contain the following three documents, in English:
- Detailed CV (publications and patents, industrial collaboration projects, etc)
- Covering letter
- Proposal for a unifying research project (1 - 2 pages) involving one or more of the following topics:

  • Product stability and effectiveness : innovative ingredients, vectorisation, interface sciences, etc
  • Eco-design: green chemistry, innovative processes, etc.
