The ministry of the economy, finance and employment has implemented action plan TIC-PME 2010 to improve competitiveness in France by enhancing the performance of SME’s through better use of information technology, in particular by making international commerce documentation electronic (www.ticpme2010.fr).
Thanks to a major operational network the Cosmetic Valley competitiveness cluster was chosen by the government to experiment on a pilot project to make international electronic trade documents in the perfumes – cosmetics sector.
This first ever French initiative in the field of electronic international trade entails the digitisation of administrative processes and export formalities and the withdrawal of various documents – documents which are currently ubiquitous such as purchase orders, pro forma invoices, customs forms, certificates of provenance, airborne bills of lading, etc.
The first phase of the project has been conducted in Eure-et-Loir in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with several companies in the department.
It will then be extended to the five other departments in the competitiveness cluster before being applied to all of France.
